Best version of RPGmaker for making a Sparkle on Raven fan game.

Post by teashades »

When I say "best" I don't mean the most features or quality of life improvements, I mean what makes the most sense for making a Sparkle on Raven fan game. Originally I though RPGmaker XP would make the most sense because I thought 2004 would be around the time the show is based in. But then slamming the door open comes Guidance Counselor Gentleman Broncos for Blu-Ray which came out in 2009. After drying my tears from this revelation I don't know if RPGmaker XP makes sense anymore. I'm developing this game from the perspective of the person who would make a fanime, so maybe they would go with the cheaper version? Right now I'm thinking between RPGmaker XP, VXAce, MV, or going back even further with 2003. But I can't decide on what fits the most with what Sparkle on Raven is. I would love some input from the community so I can better map out the future of this game. Of course, if the team isn't comfortable with a full on fan game that's cool!

You wouldn't have to use the most recent version of the engine , I think it's perfectly authentic to use XP if you wanted to.

Personally I think you should use whichever engine you find is the easiest to work with. If there aren't the resources you need/want to use for XP, use whichever version is going to fight you the least. Making games is hard and you don't have to make it harder for yourself!
