Made this thread because i just purchased a Japanese Panasonic FZ-1 3DO Multiplayer. An early 90s 32 bit console and multimedia player. Its not shipped yet but im super excited to get my hands on it. A really neat piece of gaming history. Essentially the story goes that 3DO thought they could try to set a new standard with console manufacturing. Instead of making their own consoles and selling them at a loss to make it up with games sales they licensed out the blueprints of the 3DO to other company's to manufacture and they would make their profits from those licenses and games licenses. The problem with this was since the console manufacturers would not make a profit from games they couldn't undersell the consoles leading to a launch price of $700 usd, almost $1500 dollars now. Needless to say no one bought it. But thanks to this business model developing for the console was Super Cheap and it had a small but thriving indie development scene mostly centralized in japan. Neat stuff!

PC Engine wasn't very big in the US (also known as turbografx-16). best you got from it was bonk's adventure. japan had the big hits, however.

one of the weirdest ive ever seen has to be the iGrip. it was launched in 2006 to try and be the next keyboard, trying to replace QWERTY as the default layout

it was marketed for business and general use, but they also insisted this was the best thing for 2000s era pc gamers too
