TORIBASHO: A TORIBASH SUMO TOURNAMENT
Posted: Wed Mar 15, 2023 1:26 am
Heads up, warriors. You have all been invited to participate in the first of what is sure to be many FREAKBOARDS TOURNAMENTS!
As a computer user, you may not be swift, or strong, or smart... but if there is one thing I am sure you are, it's "love to play videogames"!
In the world of Toribash (a free game on Steam!), you assume control of a "Tori".
This guy seems pretty chill!
This is a physically simulated computer character. You control them by contracting, extending, holding, and relaxing independent joints. The game progresses in a turn-based format, where each player inputs their desired actions for a given turn, and when both have confirmed their move, time will progress forward a fraction of a second, and allow the players to input their moves again.
With enough power behind your attacks, you can fracture or even completely dismember your opponent, limb from limb.
In our tournament, we will be using a ruleset less focused on the more grisly parts of Toribash. Instead, against your opponent, you will be one of two halves in an honorable bout of Sumo.
Our beloved dojo.
Your goal will be to disqualify your opponent. This can be accomplished in a number of ways.
Inside the ring, your hands, feet, wrists, and ankles are permitted to touch the ground. Anything else will result in disqualification.
So don't get on your knees and beg!
Outside of the ring, any contact with the ground will result in disqualification.
You'll have to face your opponent eventually. No running!
Use your wits and knowledge to force your opponent into a vulnerable position, and claim your victory!
Take that, uncontrolled local Player 2 puppet!
Don't try and rely on fractures and dismemberments - you'll need a supremely powerful strike to injure your opponent in our ruleset.
Focus on disqualification!
I sure couldn't take a punch like that.
We're taking entrants of all skill levels. Even if you've never played before, you're encouraged to join - it's all in good fun!
Please see the following form, if you are interested in participating.
Thanks for your interest. If you put in the time, and practice... you'll be a force to be reckoned with in the dojo!
