Bread Making Thread

Post about making bread! And also post when you make bread.

I'll start:

I really want to make my own bread but I'm not sure where to start, anybody have any tips?

A lot of breads are actually pretty easy! You can find a lot of no kneading recipes too, or ones that don't need a bread stone (though bread stones are only about $25 in my experience).

This was one of the first breads I made: Rustic Crusty Bread

It makes about two loaves, so it's a lot of bread, but it freezes well for keeping, or refrigerate the dough to keep it for a while longer. Fresh bread unfortunately gets moldy pretty quick, so freezing after the loaf has cooled and has been sliced is best.

Also, get a good bread knife. A dull knife sucks soooo bad. They're not too expensive as long as you don't get a fancy one.

There's a youtuber I watch called The Chain Baker that has a lot of very chill videos about breadmaking. I wouldn't necessarily recommend his stuff as a guide for beginners, as a lot of what is does goes into detail about how different steps and variables affect the final outcome, but it is great for anyone curious about everything that goes into baking.

Hey, I wanted to say thanks. I made bread today for the first time in a while (busy & sad) and part of the reason why is because you reminded me that it's something I enjoy.

So thanks, here are my uneven, misshapen, and a little light loaves. But I made them!

Ended up baking the bread last night even though it didn't really rise and it worked pretty well! It tastes a little off but I think the next time I make it it'll be even better!
