You stick your arm into the what appears to be water beneath you. You're not a scientist, but by feel alone you can somewhat confidently surmise that yes, this is, indeed, water.
You wave your hand around inside the aquifer to see if there's anything of note near the surface.
You don't really have any instruments in your INVENTORY that you could use to fish, you reckon. However, you do think back to that one movie you watched where a guy crashlands on a island and he has to survive there all by himself, and that he learns to fish with his hands. Or something like that.
You think for a second about doing something like that, but the water is way too dark to make out if there are any fish swimming around just by looking. Your haptic search of the reservoir comes up similarly empty of any particularly interesting objects. Not that that matters, because you notice something else about the liquid floor.
The waterline is creeping higher.
