Castlevania: Circle of the Moon baybyyyyy the Dual Set system is a fun mechanic.

I picked up the Castlevania Advance Collection during the winter sale for like $10 so I'm excited to have two more Castlevania games after I beat this one too

just replayed Link's Awakening for the Switch, all time game and generally like the remake, so much love put into the music arrangements and the QoL features are great

been playing through persona 3 fes. turns out persona was fun all along who knew. also this soundtrack goes fucking hard there like hasn't been a miss yet. Tartarus has really good fucking music and even just walking around at school or anywhere else just has awesome music. battle system is also great. heard not being able to control party members was a negative but. honestly they're competent enough that i'd say we're all equal in power and it really helps make them feel like their own kinda people, it's neat. Like with Yukari tending to more evenly split between magic and using the bow, presumably because she's not really comfortable shooting herself, and Junpei being fine with it and even sacrificing his health a lot to use more physical attacks - i'm not sure how intentional it is but it really feels like a subtle example of mechanical storytelling, which I really love. Not to mention the music being diegetic is fuckin sick

i'm almost done with a game called Proverbs. It's a puzzle game that's a lot like a cross between minesweeper and picross, and you fill out a huge rendition of the 16th century painting "Netherlandish Proverbs" and it tells you what the proverbs of each chunk you solve are. It's a great break from playing too much picross

I beat the Super Mario RPG remake on Switch yesterday and I loved it so much. This remake was made with such love for the original (despite not crediting the original devs) and it shows in each animation, music track, and gameplay. I really liked the new battle mechanics like party buffs, triple gauge, and the shockwave for landing perfect attacks. There was some concern that the gauge and shockwave would make this game a cake walk but I think the devs did a nice job balancing the enemies for these changes. This game gets pretty hard especially in the post game and that was really fun for a Mario RPG. I played the original around a year or two ago I believe and I liked it but there were things that bugged me like blocking and attacking not always being the best on telegraphing when to perform action commands but the remake fixes it in a really elegant way but just showing a symbol above the character when you're supposed to press the A button. This remake made me fall in love with Super Mario RPG, I felt like I was getting the experience kids in the 2000s got when it first release. I could gush about this game more but I'll end it off with saying that if you can pick it up but the original is worth playing too!

Just beat Psychopomp. Good game! Less interactivity than I expected overall, but it was an enjoyable 2ish hour experience! The visuals and atmosphere are really exceptional, and there's more than a few fun little treats to find.
