its a common misconception that you have to fry dumplings or pierogies with adequate space for each dumpling but actually dumplings [and pierogies and other such goodness] are pack animals and THEY NEED to be crowded in a pan or else they start wailing and shivering and whimpering and crying 
a chef might say "uuueeh if you crowd the pan they cook unevenly" WELL THE DUMPBLINGS ARE SO SCARED AND ALONE AND THEY NEED THEIR BEST FRIENDS TOUCHING THEM AT ALL TIMES OR ELSE THEY WILL NOT HAVE A HAPPY AND STRESSFREE LIFE
